  范文:

1.What's the relationship between money and happiness?

Actually, it's really tough to explain clearly the relation between money and happiness. It must be the hardest question on the earth. You know, too many people connect money with happiness. They believe that money, or possession of material goods, can guarantee happiness. It’s undeniable that sometimes, money can bring us happiness. We are able to buy what we like and enjoy material pleasures with money. However, it isn’t everything; happiness is not always dependent on it. For instance, good physical conditions can never be bought with money. Actually, happiness is measured by more than money. We must convince ourselves that it isn’t everything; it’s just a means to happiness. In other words, happiness is a subjective feeling, and it’s not necessarily related to how much money we have.

2.Do you think money is important?

Definitely. Money is the motivation for everything we do. It plays an extremely important role in our life. Just as the old saying goes, “Money is not everything, but without it we can do nothing”. Money can not only meet our material requirements, but also satisfy our spiritual needs. In this materialistic society, it matters a lot. If we don't have money, we're powerless, and if we have no money, we can’t afford our children’s schooling, we can’t buy beautiful clothes, we can’t buy delicious food, not to mention luxuries. Material satisfaction seems unobtainable without it. Life as we know it would not exist without money. .

3.Do most Chinese people think that money is important?

Of course. Actually, most Chinese people are money orientated. They see it as an important tool to improve their lives, so that's why they work extremely hard to earn more money. And here is the reality - a man can’t get married if he doesn’t have enough money, because his potential mother?in-law always asks for a house and a car. Also, kids can’t be sent to the best school because School Estate is part of the admission requirement, and house prices in school districts are extraordinarily high. Therefore, for some Chinese people, their one aim in life is to get rich. Maybe this sounds negative, but it is truly a problem in China. .

4.Why are children generally happier than adults?

I think basically children are happier because they have passion for what they do. They love what they do. Actually, if we want to be happy, we must have passion. However, adults always feel that the tasks they are doing are boring. Therefore, they usually lose their zest for life and don't feel like doing anything. .

5.Are modern people happier than those living in the past?

Absolutely not. I tend to believe that life in the past was considerably simpler than what it’s like now, and this complexity(復雜性) makes people in modern society sort of gloomy(陰沉的,憂郁的) almost all the time. For instance, about half a century ago, when mobile phones didn’t exist, people could just relax at home after a long day, and, you know, spend time with their families. Whereas nowadays, employees still have to remain on-call(隨叫隨到) after clocking out, due to the over?connected lifestyle brought by social networks. That, I can tell you, won’t make any one of us happy at all.

6.Who do you like to have celebrations with? Friends or family?

Friends, I guess. I mean, I don’t dislike my family. As a matter of fact, I love them more than anything, but the thing is, when you celebrate events with your family, it’s just sort of odd, because you have to ‘play safe(小心為上)’, you know, not to talk loud, not to drink too much – or perhaps any – alcohol, and stuff like that. I mean I get it, that family is really important, but somehow I just feel like my hands are tied(束手束腳,不自由) when I’m with them. When I’m hanging out with my buddies, however, I don’t have to worry about anything and can therefore completely enjoy myself.

  7.Can money make people happy?

Well, this is a complex question. Let’s put it this way: money is necessary, but it’s not almighty(錢 不是萬能的,但沒錢是萬萬不能的). Without a decent income, it’s relatively harder for one to be happy, but still, it’s possible, just like the homeless guy who lives on a bench not far from my place who seems delighted every day, and that’s obviously not because of any financial achievement. On the other hand, the marginal utility(邊際效用) brought by money diminishes as your bank account gains weight. For me, a five thousand rmb scholarship would definitely be a thrill, whilst the same amount in a bonus wouldn’t really cheer up an executive, I suppose.

8.Why are some people unhappy nowadays?

There are all sorts of reasons. For instance, they may have been confronted with some adversities(逆境), such as career bottleneck, you know, typically around their forties, or severe deficit(赤字), which normally happens quite a bit earlier, or even worse, bullying at their school or workplace. All these unfavourable circumstances lead to, on the one hand, direct unhappiness, and on the other hand, psychological disorders like autism(自閉) or depression, which then may cause further and deeper frustration. To put it in a nutshell, I think the factor which most frequently triggers sadness is stress, and that’s just ubiquitous(無處不在的) nowadays.

9.What do you do to make yourself happy?

Let me explain my definition of happiness. First of all, we should dedicate time every day to meaningful activities. And we shouldn’t worry too much. Most of the things I’ve worried about didn’t even happen, and most of the things I’ve hoped for and worked hard for did. Therefore, it’s pointless to be alarmist. Besides that, we need to learn to let little frustrations go as soon as they arrive. I don’t want to let bad moments spoil a bunch of good ones. If I want to be happy inside, I must abandon these negative emotions, like anger, a sense of unfairness, and so on. And finally, we should be kind and genuinely be happy for others and not always envy them, as it will not do us any good. We have to learn to appreciate others and their achievements.
